I read this and sub-links also but I didn't find a word about shortening tailshaft.
http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=msg&t h=19281&rid=1627&S=c453a1411a411ccd17e7428 08c1f58f9
I remember that shortening was mandatory and I also remember that somebody mentioned about it, in some topic.
I just cant find it.
Anyway, Im dumping old noisy T-series and fitting Hilux diff in. How much shorter tailshaft I should have?
BTW. Im asking this because I cant measure my diffs right now!

I can only speak from my own experience, with a RA23 and a RN27 tailshaft.
It is more than 20mm in this case...something closer to 35mm.
No reputable diff specialist will shorten your tailshaft by any set amount without wanting to measure up your car in final form
before committing to cut it down.
And, in my case, there are different lengths in each section of both these two piece shafts, so if I want to use the existing chassis captive nuts to bolt up the centre section, I have to get both pieces shortened.
Just my observations, FWIW.
Mitch.
