1jz with jdm 2jz map sensor upgrade n 550cc injecters Wed, 24 March 2004 10:08 Go to next message
Hi ev 1 this was brought up on a thread awile ago was wonderin if any one has done it and awt the results were like ive found a 2jz map sensor but the guy whos got it is using a 3bar map on his 2jz with fact computer export 550s no aditional pigybaks or computers this can b found at www.mkiv.com.nz members kevin auckland this is a cut out of that page.

I dyno'd my car at Bellars Motor Works on February 6th, 2004 and achieved 360.8 rwkw on their brand new Dyno Dynamics dyno at 22psi boost. This is after sorting out all the gremlins in my Garrett GT3540 single turbo installation. This power level is now at the limit of the stock USA 550cc injectors and requires two Jap Supra in-tank pumps to supply enough fuel. This is on a 100% internally stock Japanese Supra (2JZ-GTE) engine (its never been opened), showing just how strong these engines are from the factory. I'm also still running the factory flywheel, clutch and pressure plate, which has survived a number of 4000-6000+ rpm launches at the drags so far on Mickey Thompson ET Street drag slicks. This setup is still using the factory ECU with no fuel or ignition controllers and it runs it very well, although a fully programable ECU could probably run it a bit better.

there are dyno graphs on the page im not very computer savy couldnt fig how to put a link directly to it sorry. on the old thread it said to use the 2jz map but he reckons to use a after market 3bar sensor. im alil confused any help apreciated

YOU'RE confused? What exactly are you asking? What engine have you got? You asked a question about a 1JZ but it seems you're saying you have a 2JZ? Or is it a 1JZ running at 22psi with no fuel or igntion controllers? Is this a 1JZ with 550's already fitted?

Try explaining it all again...

I'm confused as well... I guess there's a question in there somewhere, but I can't figure it out!

I think he's referring to the 3bar map sensor upgrade on the 2jz factory computer being able to support 22 psi and 550 cc injectors - without any piggyback ecu's etc.
Is it the case with 1jz that the map sensor is only 1 bar, thus boosting over this, even with fuel cut defender makes it prone to leaning out over 15 psi? So an upgraded map sensor is required?

I believe the question is something like "will a factory 1jz computer with a 2/3 bar map sensor and 550cc injectors be able to support a boost level of 22 psi and produce good power from it?
At least that's what I read it is!! Very Happy

Thats how I read it too!!

this may make it easier

ECU map sensor Injectors
1JZ 1.5bar (2jz) JDM 2JZ 440's Does this work (I think the old post said it did)
2JZ 2bar (not OE) US 2JZ 550's Does this Work (seems to according to robs quote)

Now his question is:
1JZ 2bar (not OE) US 2JZ 550's Will this work?? (give it a go!!)

1JZ and 2JZ factory MAP sensors are not the same. 1JZ is 1 bar, 2JZ is something like 1.5 bar.

2JZ map is about 1.3bar.

So, yes an ideal upgrade is the 2JZ map sensor with 550's.. but supporting 22psi? long shot... i'd say 19 or 20 max. you'll need ignition control as well at that boost.

So, 2JZ map, fuel and ignition controllers and 550's should get you to 20 psi... but not very reliably. You really need to go standalone at anything over about 19psi..

and wouldn't you need resistors to run the low impedance US 550cc injectors?

Do you get an upgraded Map sensor with aftermarket computers like a microtech LTX12 or similar?

Anyone wanting to do this and needing a 2JZGTE Supra MAP sensor, PM me.

Yes you would need a resistor pack. Ones off 7M's do the job. Or you can get Sard 550cc injectors from Japan brand new for about $600-700 that don't need one.

Yes, most if not all aftermarket ECUs will have thier own map sensor.

Personaly I wouldn't want to push the stock turbos above 1bar as I have seen what they can do to a engine in the worse case.

Doing this mod is a little pointless to me. It's sort of half arsed and risky for little gain. Real gain is a single turbo, aftermarket ecu, injectors.

It would be ok if the turbo could take this mod but I wouldn't risk it.
