Sprinter strut/stub axle integrity

All,
Just curious as to the strength of the sprinter strut. More so the stub axle.
I am in the process of trying to upgrade the brakes on my sprinter and the most common approach is to change to an RA-60 strut due to its larger stub axle.
My question is why??
I have never heard of anyone having dramas with the strength of the sprinter stub axle.....Are they known to bend, crack or completely break? Or is the main reason for upgrading to the celica strut simply due to the fact that its easier to do a comprehensive brake upgrade??
Basically I am trying to determine if I should work out an upgrade with my standard strut or the RA60 unit.
Also, I am aware of the associated camber issues with the celica strut (up to 3 deg positive I have heard). Will adjustable strut tops be enough to cancel this AND give me a few degrees negative camber??
Thanks
Gabe

1. Most people are interested in the RA60 brakes, not necessarily the RA60 stub axles. The larger stub axles give you access to a whole range of different hub/brake swaps.
2. No, adjustable strut tops allow fairly limited camber adjustment and it won't be enough. You have to take more drastic measures, like longer control arms or get the struts bent.

Try the earlier RA23/28/40 struts they're bigger, easier to fit vented brakes too, and still run the older stub axle angles that you'll need. The adjustable tops with later model struts will only allow you to get zero camber at the most.

Personally (and as Norbie has indicated) I think the people thinking that the sprinter strut is weak is just a load of rubbish.
I have much larger discs and calipers on my modified sprinter struts and no issues have been encountered with the stub axle or the strength of the strut.
If I was at all worried I would get the strut gussetted, which I would do with any strut if it came down to it. But this is over kill on a road car, common for rally cars though.
Cheers

I have managed to bend a stub axle only once but also moved the engine cross member across a couple of cm, so you have to have a fairly big impact to bend one.
