1995 Camry tyre sizes Wed, 24 March 2004 10:28 Go to next message
Ok I just want to know if anyone knows what the standard size tyre should be?

ATM I've got 185/85/14's on there. I think they are too wide for the standard rim, or is that what they should be? Thanks.

Mmmm..... So does that mean I've been fitted with a tyre with too high a profile then? Could explain why I think they look too wide for the RIM then too. Wonder how much my speedo is out by that.....

Your new tyres have a 5.85% variance over the original tyres, sourced from here

If your speedo is @ 60kph then you are actually travelling 64kph
If your speedo is @ 100kph then you'll be travelling 106kph

Hope this helps, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong...

Geez, what a bastard eh?

Could explain why I'm also getting annoyed with people that are doing just under 100km/h by my speedo...... Rolling Eyes

I went and checked both the camry and the holden apollo, (which my car is), and they both had the P185/75 R14 89H (What's 89H?), listed. The only difference is the apollo had dunlop grand prix instead of the SP sport, but both the same dimensions.

I'll actually have to go check in the morning if both the front and rear wheels are actually the same, as they are matching pairs, but not matching brands. (Front is one brand, rear another).

I'm mostly researching this now as I need four new tyres anyway. And I don't think I'll end up going back to where I have purchased all four of my tyres from. Plus after getting a wheel alignment from the same mob, my car is tramlining like crazy and the insides of the tyres are VERY worn compared to the outer. (Camber must be wrong).

apollo, have never heard of 185/85X14 tyres.yours are more likely to be 185/75X14.if you are replacing all 4 at once i would recommend going to a 195/70X14 in a V rated tyre (such as B/stone sf237).the stiffer casing and wider thread will hang on better than the standard size and does not alter the speedo.also if both your front tyres are wearing on the inside shoulders then it may just be the toe-in is not positive enough for the camber.most of these camrys & apollos have around -1 degree camber and should have about 1mm of toe-in.if there is a bigger difference in camber side to side than half a degree then have a camber pin fitted to one side to correct this and make them more even.make sure you rotate your tyres at least every 10,000km or the front tyres will be rooted in no time, and the rear ones will go square.
