my mechanic just called and said they can't fit the new turbo cause the exhaust fitting is a different shape!! he said the one i had on the old engine is square, and this one is a rectangle! what would be the cheapest way out?

Take the old turbine housing off and put it on the new turbo!!

That only works if the Turbine itself is the same!!
