I have 6.5" Focal midbass speakers in my 92 Camry doors. I removed the map pocket from the door trim and made some fibreglass pods for the door. Remember that if you put a speaker in the door, you're going to get lots of vibrations, especially since the door wasn't meant to have a speaker mounted in it. So you're going to want to sound deaden the door decently.
Cheers,
Tom.

I don't think there's any chance of fitting it without removing the map pocket. The only thing i can really think of, is maybe cutting the map pocket a little and turning part of it into a speaker pod with some crafty fibreglass work. (If you understand what i mean..)
You may be able to do it yourself if you're handy with fibreglass... otherwise you could get some professional ones made up for probably around $200 to $300.
I think it cost me around $100 overall, for all the materials to make my own.
Hope this helps.

Yes you will have to remove the map pockets, the fibreglass option is better, but i have a custom panel on my car which houses the 6.5 inch speakers and i payed $250 for it made and fitted.
Toml - Do you have pics of your setup?.

Hey smt_007, no I don't have any pics; sorry.
What do you mean by a custom panel? did you get a whole new door trim made up to house a speaker?
Do you have any pics?
Tom.

i could also do with front door pods because i just got pioneer 4" splits installed under the dash in my 88 camry and with the tweeters mounted near the interior door handle, im copping a lot of treble from the front. any information on door pods would be helpful. its either that or an amp and sub and that would cost a fair bit methinks

Even with a nice new amp and sub, you'll still have a major lacking in midbass upfront. You should definatley look for a 6 to 8" midbass speaker in the front, especially larger if you have no sub.
You don't want to go from a 4" speaker in the front, to the next biggest speaker being a 12" or 10" sub in the rear; it's just too big of a jump in size, you'll lose a decent section of audible frequencies and won't have the decent, directional midbass in front.

Does anyone have pics of there setups for doors? i have some initial ideas, thinking of leaving the map pockets in and cutting holes in the map pockets to allow spacer and speaker to fit.
