just got my gze installed and running in my AE82 i have noticed it overrevs between gears? it actually picks up 2-300 rpm for a second or so.
is this normal or have i got a bug in the system. i do have a 3SGE TB installed which is 3-4mm bigger but it doesnt have the idle controller so lucky i dont have aircon or powersteering..
any ideas?

This is normal. If you increase the length of your post-throttle intake, you increase the amount of intake charge which must be consumed before the tract falls into vacuum and idle conditions. So when the throttle snaps closed it takes a moment to affect the engine speed.
I've assumed that your throttle is now before the S/C, whereas before it would have been at the manifold (in 4A-G) or at the carburettor (4A-C). Correct me if I'm wrong.

yes i am runing a front mount Galant VR4 cooler and the stock bypass valve, i dont really see this as a major problem just gotta be a little bit careful as it can make u look like a bad driver even when your not. has anyone overcome this problem by venting exess pressure to atmosphere or any other way?

mine does it as well. I just take a little bit longer to put the clutch in and it doesn't overrev at all, when I'm giving it a bit and changing gears fast it does it tho, can't really be avoided I guess..

As said first off it is all about the length of the inlet tract AFTER the throttle body. When you get off the accelerator the TB snaps shut but the engine can still use all the air that is in your intercooler, piping and intake manifold, and the engine is unloaded since you are on the clutch, the revs rise.
Happens to all of them, especially with a front mount as that increases the post-TB volume. And yeah, you do sound a bit like an L-plater, but I can live with that.

Thats the beautiful free-spinning nature of the 4ag internals... they just do that!
