I should also add that I don't like the very photoshopped look of the 'flat torque curve' of the Merc engine.

Dad finished building the service department for a sydney Mercedes Benz dealership.
So the dealer principal gave my sister a spin in this which was on the showroom floor:

SL55 AMG
Supercharged V8 goodness.
AS much as i love toyota, that earns some merit in my books Dave
Needless to say, i was thiiiiiiiiiiiis jealous

this sounds more like dynamic intake runner lengths/size to maximise torque in all breathing ranges rather than TVIS. But even this has been done before on rally engines with itb's.
i agree there is something fishy with that torque curve, just doesnt seem right, as GT said too "photoshopped".
im not really knocking engine, excellent technology, and no doubt excellent engineering. But sometimes people can be blinded by brand names without knowing there is already other engines out there with similar tech as GT posted up. Yes i am aware this statement can be deemed contradictory, it is right to recognise this merc engine as well.

posting about a toyota engine
I cant say i knew about the new toyota engine in the new crown, only available in Japan.
For what it is the 3GRFSE is awesome!!!! But regardless of manufactuer, be it ford or holden, if someone was to create a naturally aspirated 3.5L engine that produced the above torque curve, regardless of our blindness towards toyota, one should be able to see the achievements being made, and pay their respects.
The glass is half full.

Absolutely. All alloy. Compact. More all round balls. Sell off the 6 speed auto.
ITB's, some judicious porting, cams, decent set of headers and aftermarket ECU and we're away.
All cram packed into a KE30.

Will they fit a TA22
and how much to put it in, what if I get someone to do all the work? How much should i put aside? I only have $200, that should cover it right? My mate said he can get a half cut off his uncles brother, and it shouldn't take more then a day to do. You can even use the stock mechanical fuel pump of the 2T Just attach it to the Alternator bracket. NO worries mate.
So anyone know someone that can do it for me?
Oh its the 3GRFSEUITA engine that I'm after. I can put a 30 pound turbo on it right?

i think you'll find that most 'decent' motors are getting closer to 100Nm/L output in stock form, and torque curves are getting flatter... even the 2ZZGE has a pretty flat curve for what it is.
the new Ford BOSS 290 for motor, 5.4L, 520Nm, and pretty flat....
mmmm those AMG55's are nuts, i've seen one being treated 'right' and it made the HSV255kw look like an excel
i wanna see a torque curve of the Veyron monster
