i just got a 21-RC stupidly cheap and am planning to put it into my TA22 as an instant power upgrade, What i want to know is do they respond to modification very well? i am planning on changing the carbie for a webber or something similar and making up an extractor manifold for it.

A 21R-C is possibly the worst engine you could choose for performance mods. A 2T-G in good condition will run rings around it, and the 2T-G will bolt into your car - unlike a 21R-C which will require a fair amount of effort.

after owning a few ra60's with 21rc's under the hood.. I can say that i was shocked and dumfounded that a crossflow 2 ltr could produce so NO POWER!?????!!??! well.. after looking at a few things i would bet my money on it.. that its the exhaust manifold that makes them go like shite.. If you take the covers off it.. Its one big tank, so all cylinders exhaust into one main point then it gets pushed throught the exhaust system..
I reckon a decent set of extractors would give you a little more horsies..
