Make sure you do some easy maintenance whilst the engine is out.
1. Spark plugs and lead if needed.
2. Timing belt - should be done on all cars regardless if the belt looks new.
3. Idler bearings.
4. Water pump.
5. Reseal of Power Steering pump - they pretty much all leak until you do this.
6. Rebuild alternater - will at least have worn brushes from PS fluid going into it.
7. Complete flush of trannie fluid with Toyota type4, including inside the TC housing. Actually do this when the engine is running, much simpler.
8. Clean engine bay - it doesn't get any easier with no engine in there.

Yeah all good advice KDog.
Where did you get your idler bearings from? I think Toyota quoted about $200 for each of them (2). Thats one thing I didn't change, which I would've really liked to.

I just took the old ones out and took them to the bearing shop. They had them in stock. I think around $50 each. This was many years ago though.

I'm guessing you are talking about the timing belt idler bearings, not the main belt idler bearings?

Yeah sorry about that. Can't remember what I did with the normal idlers. I'll try and pull one off this weekend. From memory they weren't tricky. I can't remember any of the bearings as such being non standard. But it was 5 years ago and I did a lot of bearings.

I was talking about the timing belt idler bearings, not the fan belt ones.
(whats a "main" belt? joke)

well its finally running
i drove it up and down driveway testing it
has no exhaust so thing sounds like a race car
had a prob with speed sensor
the speed sensor that comes with crown gbox has a shitload of pulses every revolution
and in 1st gear my speedo was reading over 120 kmp
so the ecu was goin from 1st to hi heheh
i fitted a speedo sensor which i modded to suit my gbox awhile ago
it has 4 pulses every rev and now its good
cant wait to get it engineered next week and exhaust on it
