Whipper snipper carbie problem solved. Fri, 26 March 2004 10:11 Go to next message
Ok I have a whipper snipper 2 stroke engine , the fuel was old and soiled and the carbie needs a very good clean.

I don't have much experience with carbs at all , but a general clean out should just involve a little dismantling and alot of carbie cleaner right?

All right , its all clean , new fuel hose , fresh fuel with 40:1 mix in it.

But there is a problem , it doesnt want to start , it half kicks alot and sometimes roars to life but dies before I can do anything about it.

Update - these are the instructions for starting

1. Spark switch to on , full throttle , set to choke , pull cord till motor pops
2. Switch to partial , full throttle , pull cord till engine starts , hold full throttle for 5 seconds.
3. Swtich to run.

Now I can't get the slart past stage 1.

Well I have come to the conclusion that the carbie is not giving any fuel , thanks to the use of aerostart . It starts , burns the aerostart , then dies.

UPDATE -

All is well now , with the help of a mate I took it apart and cleaned the diaphrams which had becomed blocked , now it works a charm.

Thanks to all who helped in narrowing down the problem.
