Replacing Valve guides/Stem seals - 1JZ-GTE

Hi guys n gals
I have a 126,000km 1JZ-GTE behind a A340E auto trans thats smoking under high vacuum, leading me to believe my valve stem seals are worn...
My turbos are blowing no oil out (brand new high flowed CT12s) and the intercooler is clean, so i'm 99% sure its the valve seals...
Is it possible to replace the valve seals without removing the head? I've been told this is possible using a few neat tricks, but everyone has been unsure on the 1JZ, and every mechanic I've spoken to has been unkeen to give it a shot...
Anyone done this before?
Know of any places in perth that will do this?
Thanks,
j

i've been told it COULD be a blocked vacuum line.. can anyone confirm this?

other than perhpas a stuck PCV valve or line i dont see how a blocked vacuum line could result in blowing smoke on vac?
it is possible to change the VSS with the head on the engine, but its a pain in the ass. doable, but euughhhhh....
SO much easier to give this an overhaul off the car.
theres plenty of methods for how to attemp it though, a search should net you the popular ones.
cheers

hey,
i think it is possible but like u said its very hard and alot of work..my engine is currently in peices and found it was easier to get to them by just takking the head off..its a bit of work..but yeah i guess what has to be done has to be done
good luck
