Yesterday was not a good day for driving. I had two incidents!

Incident One:

I was driving along Castle Hill Rd towards Pennant Hills Rd and this P plater in a Commodore comes flying up behind me and sticks about 1cm from my back bumper. I was passing another car slowly (doing almost the same speed) and so he proceeds to weave back and forth between the lanes. By this time I was like Shocked and so when he decides to pull in behind me permanently I just ease on the brakes until I am going about 10ks under the speed limit and then speed up again to my previous speed. He then flies past accompanied by some interesting guestures so I follow him at some distance. We go under the tunnel onto Pennant Hills Rd and going down there he is literally taking up two lanes weaving back and forth. Talk about freaky. I was staying as far away as I could. Glad when he turned of on the M2.

Incident Two:

Coming home from the city at about 11.30 last night along Epping Rd. I was going about 82-83. In the middle lane and looking for a spot to change into the other two lanes when all of a sudden there is this car in front of me. So I slam on the brakes and would have hit if it wasnt for the ABS. So now I am behind this car waiting for a chance to get into the other lanes and it was this women traveling at 30km/hr!! Talk about dangerous! Shocked I finally get into one of the other lanes and gun it past her. The next lights were red and she pulls up beside me winds down my window and yells at me to slow down and for me being a crazy slwo driver. Friggen heck. What the hell am I supposed to do? go 50 k's under the speed limit?

Not a good day for driving.

Incident one I'll have to say you were being a complete tool. I hate RLH's. Just pass already and get back into the left lane grandpa. Razz

In fact, you should have done it anyway just to get rid of the tailgater. That sort of shit you don't want hanging on your bumper, especially since in the second scenario you said you had ABS, I'd wager the commonwhore behind you wouldn't and would plough into your backseat while you would have pulled up in time for an emergency like a woman doing 50 under the limit. Very Happy Just gotta think ahead man.

Sure it's fun educating them, but two points:

1. They'd never learn anyway.

2. You'd miss your car if it was written off or spending 2 months in the panel beaters.

yeah it's all your fault Andy Razz You did everything wrong. They are pefectly alllowed to weave in and out dangerously over the speed limit swerving from lane to lane with no indication and to drive 50 in an 80 zone withough any recourse for repercussion Very Happy

Which, given the events of Saturday night at the Secure Parking in the city may not have been all that bad a thing. Wink

If someone stacks it into my rear end, meh, I am already over it. It would take a massive hit to write off my car from the rear. Panel beaters have lovely things called courtesy cars. Smile

It is if I hit someone else from the back that that I worry about...

Yesterday was a shocker too. Some of you would know the intersection of North Rocks Rd and Pennant Hills Rd, the right hand lane is Right Hand Turn ONLY. Some Asian woman with the ENTIRE family in a shitty old Laser proceeds to go straight ahead from the right hand lane - saved only by BLIND LUCK that no one in the left lane was turning right. I was like Shocked . There was some absolute clowns about on Friday night too.

Victorian story, due to pretty heavy downpour this morning:

Saw a Black VT (or newer) Commodore lose his hero status today!

Poor guy was exiting the South Eastern Freeway (Monash) on the Punt road exit.

This exit takes you left, and up and over the tunnel, in a right hand 180 degree sweeping turn.

On the exit to the turn, before turning left again to get to Punt Road, Mr Commodore decided to accellerate rapidly, in an attempt to get slightly sideways...

This resulted in his tail end fishing out to the left, then as a result of over-correction, swinging out to the right and getting the car almost 90' degrees sideways.

This slide continued for 5 meteres, with me directly behind him, until a nice big metal lightpole interupted both his slide, and his driver side rear quarter panel.

Have a good day Commodore drivers everywhere !

Actually I was slowly "overtaking" in the left hand lane. And yes, I shouldnt have braked but it really pisses me off when people tailgate and at least I didnt slam on my brakes. Just eased them on.

Regarding overtaking & hogging the right lane, seems to be happening alot lately...

I think people should just accelerate when overtaking, even if they have to exceed the limit by 5 or 10 k's. But i'm sure many people are afraid of overzealous policing and so they overtake only marginally faster than the car they're trying to pass...

Of course this leads to congestion and frustration on our roads, which in my opinion is a much greater danger than the whole 'speed kills' campaign. But who am I to dictate road policy, oh well...

Note this was not aimed at anyone in particular, just my personal opinion...

Ok fair enough. I know what it's like to overtake in the left lane, it's pretty much the only lane you can overtake these days. Rolling Eyes

Which leads me to today on the gateway, there was a long line of slow cars in the left and some moron in a truck in the right that I'm behind taking his sweet time getting past these cars, but when the opportunity for the truck to move over comes do you think he did? Hell no. I had to keep waiting, waiting, waiting, and finally I could squeeze into the left lane to find it was absolutly clear of cars as far as I could see, so I booted it past the dickhead and gave him the 1 finger salute. Even when he was a small shape in the rear view he was still in the right lane with the other RLH idiots that decided they were still going fast instead of going into the left around the truck, (seems I was the only one to do it).

Then further up along the straight leading to bondall, I overtake another car that is in the left only to come across another slow RLH, so I give her a flash of the highbeams then again boot it into the left lane to leave Ms Moron crusing @ 90 in the right lane.

Damn it was a "piss me off" day this morning.

Although this afternoon I think a truck saved me from a speed camera.

I always make it a point to overtake as quick as I can to minimise my time in the right hand lane, but anyway, I start to overtake this truck that was doing just under 100, and as I start to switch lanes he blips his brakes on, and just as I'm coming up beside him, I see there was a cash cow on the left of the road, so I just cruise past the truck at just under 110, and the point that I passed the truck was the point we both went past the camera. Smile Trucks make good shields. Very Happy

Heh heh. I have often thought about using a truck as a shield. Very Happy

I had that the other day as well. I was driving behind a taxi going about 5k's under the speed limit on a freeway and there was a gap in the left hand lane. Not long enough for me to get around him but most definitely long enough for him to get into. I gave him a quick flash of the lights. Nothing. Gave him a longer flash. Still nothing. So i had to sit behind him until I finally get a chance to "undertake". No road sense that is what I reckon.

Also speeding up to overtake is all well and good and I usually do it as well, but I had my cruise control set and I really dont like it when I have to mess around with that. Smile

yes its wrong but these wankers will never learn until they go up someones arse or get taught a lesson

During the day it's just as easy to flick the headlights to make it look like you're braking.

yeah its one of my pet hates when some one tail gates me when driving especally when theres another lane for them to pass me driving home one day along the warrego highway sitting on 110km/h in a 100km/h zone (I was speeding) look in my rear vision mirror and seen this maroon vn commodore rapidly approching didn't think too much of it at first but when he started to tailgate me on a 4 lane highway (2 lanes going both ways) and was not a single car in the other lane started to annoy me abit so I tapped the brakes and he backed off flashed his lights at me and started to tailgate me again I don't know what this blokes go was so I slowed down not lying here it wasn't untill I was doing 60 in a 100 zone he decides to pass! Confused how do you work that out any normal person would of passed good theres some stupied people out there!?

That means if they're not paying attention which they often aren't they are likely to run up your arse. Turning your lights on makes it look like you're braking but you don't slow down, so when they brake they put a bit of distance between ya

Laughing felt like doing that a few times! just don't weather it worth having me car in a panel shop for a while. I do a fair bit of driving so that may be a problem but it's a great suggestion! Smile
