What is a *realistic* kilowatt / kilogram ratio to aim for when looking at performance 4door sedans?

1:1 is good if you can get it
but realisticly 100Kw@wheels in 1000Kg car will make for an enjoyable ride.
so 10Kg:1Kw is a reasonable ask for an average Jap turbo saloon while many cars will be better than that
mmmmmmmmm JZX100 Chaser

id agree, 10:1 make for a good drive. lower is a bit sedate, higher, and you start getting f a s t

hmm, 70kw at wheels in KE10 would be fun...
i'd think of it more as Nm/kg .. in a performance oriented car you'd have around 4:1 rear end anyway, so gearign would be similar...
ridiculous (ie sports sedan level) would be around 2kg/Nm (mmmm 360Nm in 720kg car ) enough to spin tyres in 4th just from torque!
my current 4K'd KE15 is 6.9kg/Nm and it's not exactly scintillating, but still low speed fun. (15kg/rwkw)
4AGE'd i would be around 4.8kg/Nm (13kg/rwkw)
BEAMS 3SGE'd it would be around 3.6kg/Nm

oh realistic? i'd say 3.5kg/Nm ie 285Nm in 1000kg car. maybe 4kg/Nm.

Mine is about 5kg:1kW. Hmmm, maybe that's why it's fast?

if i recall correctly, when the yamaha R1 was released, it was the highest power to weight ratio of a production vehicle..
that was 1.16kg/hp or about 1.55kg/kw
in the article i read, it said a 9 sec drag car was about 1hp/kg, or 1.34kg/kw
these are engine hp tho, not rwkw.
