i reckon its either squashed bugs (they leave yellow crap when the pop on the car when u hit them) or tree sap. i dont reckon bees would crap a noticible size, and bird shit contains both the urea and the crap, they dont actually piss.

Lick it and you'll be able to tell ...
Just J/k'ing ... why bother? Just wash it and see if it comes off. Or are you scared to touch it

jeez .. .this is just wrong...
birds don't separately urinate (like most mammals) - it all comes in one smelly package called birdshit
the yellow dots could be insect secretions or if you park under a light that gets lots of moths/flies/etc, then it's probably insect shit.
tree sap would eventually shrink (taking paint with it) and would be sticky at first.
thos - some trees emit a fine spray of chemicals to encourage other trees not to grow nearby or to attract insects/birds to help with pollination. Wattle trees may leave a fine, sticky powder sometime - that needs to be washed off.

This is a very relevent thread... i have often wondered what species of animal or insect it is that I have to wipe out to protect my car.
Dad was telling me how he used to shoot the pigeons off the power lines with an air rifle when he was a kid (in suburban Brighton). Stupid gun laws now mean that I can't get the bastard birds that use my car as a toilet.

Karcha or equivelant- gets rid of the freakin possums which are always crappin on pissin on my car. They're a really big problem round Highett - try that one Simdog. Ive had a crack with an rifle at them too, but decided standing in the street with a rifle wasnt the best idea anymore.

I don't know about you but it takes me at least 10 min to set up our Karcher. It takes 5 min to get the shotty out of the roofspace.

where is it located? towards the rear of the car?
i've heard some people say that Optimax releases sulphur and it can leave little yellow specks over the back of your car..
whether or not there's any truth to this i dont know

I get it too......i park under a paperbark tree and a sydney blue gum.
Its either coming from the trees or the insects within them.

No, It's annoying tho every time I polish my car before I get to put it in the garage one of these dots appears now I'm not any where near any trees, power lines or anything that drips. So whatever does it must be airborne, I've even had it land on my arm while sitting outside. The only thing I can think of is some kind of moth/bee/bug excreation.

So is there a conclusion?? I'm wondering what it is, as well.
I used to get it all the time, but I don't notice now, because I don't look at the paintwork (nor do I wash the car - not talking about the Celica - the other car)
It's not totally water soluble, it's even kinda oily. It's not sap or tree related, and it's almost always little circular dots of about 3mm diameter.
Bizarre.
When I licked it, it wasn't very tasty. j/k

Whatever it is it also happens dynamically. We have the same spots but on the sides of the car, in streaks that would indicate that it hit while the car was moving. On the weathershields and the bodywork. Mainly after an evening drive but no evidence of bug remains.
