has anyone ever heard of using 4AC pistons to lower the comp ratio of a blue top 4AGE to make it suitable for F/I use?

Why on earth would you use 4ac pistons, for starters they are only 2 valve so will most likely foul the 4AGs valves.
Do a search, brand new forged, ceramic & teflon coated GZE pistons can be had for about $80 each.

why not just use the 4age and it's cast 9.4:1 pistons?
stock 4age's have been turbo'd many many times, some more sucsessful than others though...

How true it is.
Good condition bigports are very strong, and with the right application can easily take 8-10psi of f/i.

Hmm interesting to hear what about the 4age20v i understand the compression ratio is higher but has anyone put a turbo on a 20v keeping it standard. i doubt it as i have never heard of it happening.

Sorry saw the post couldn't resist. I have never asked this question before. I'm trying to get a better wider opinion on the subject maybe there is hope for my 20v.

I am so sick of idiots posing as profesionals, so often do I hear mechanics saying the dumbest stuff. But comparativly speaking this ones a ripper, I mean who in their right mind would take out a set of pistons that are capable for the job and in their place put a set of inferior earlier pistons that probably wouldnt even work let alone make an improvement.
Also where on earth could standard 4AGE pistons be bought for $80?? that sounds way too good to be true, please fill me in I want some!!!
Joyride: I agree with the guys here, you mechanic should stick with oil changes and spark plugs only, find someone decent.

well before anyone goes saying this mechanic is an idiot, has anyone even bothered to find out if the 4AC pistons have the same wrist pin size etc.? maybe this guy actually has some knowledge of engines that have used these pistons in the past?
anyways, i would stick with the 4age ones. high compression and boost IMO could be a good combination for a street car...

I don't know about standard 4AGE pistons, dunno how much they are, but standard (and 0.5mm oversize) 4AGZE pistons, that are fully forged, with a ceramic coated crown & teflon coated skirt, are available from your nearest friendly Toyota dealer, for the meagre sum of $82, including GST.
You even get new gudgeon pins with them.

i do believe my mechanic does know what hes talking about, maybe i heard wrong. oh well. i'll keep u guys informed as im seeing him on saturday or monday.
and as for the 20V turbo question, i reckon you could keep the internals standard. the same mechanic turbocharged an ITR that belongs to my brothers gf now and has not had troubles yet. its been 2 years now. the only thing was that the car uses methanol injection to keep the temp down. and run low (very low) boost

hmm i dont get you guys! im with Bigworm and witzl, for just under $400 you can get a set of pistons that are made for boost and will give you reliability, yet you still wanna stuff around the 4age, 4ac, i dont know about you but im sure mr toyota new what he was doing when he built these engines
its your funeral
