The sv21 camry with the 3sfe went from 1988 to 1992. The 1988's go from $1000-$3000 and the 1991 to 1992 have better interior and colour coded bumpers etc etc mine is 1992, and cost anywhere from $3000-$6000 depending on condition. Fuel consumption for a 3sfe is about 500-550 ks to a tank of 55L.

Actualy if u got a low spec car like an exectuive you still get the black bumpers with the 91-92 models.
Good car, very reliable. Not a car to buy if u want to do a car up tho.
Best range i have gotten out of a tank is 574 kms, and had i tried i probably could have gone further.
The average fuel economy is about 9L/100km city/highway driving.

Alot of camrys come with A/C as an option, but i think both power windows and ac were standard on the ultima spec only.

the best my camry can manage is 8.5L/100km, but i have to take it UUUUUUUUULLLLTRAAAA easy. this is like, changing at the speeds recommended in the owners manual and not going above 80km/h except when necessary. I would strongly recommend any SV21 camry mate, they are solid, solid cars. I am thinking of selling mine if your interested. PM me if you are. Or go to the '88 Camry White' post in the classifieds cars for sale section.

my 89 camry gets around 9l/100kms driving along a highway. there a great car very reliable and ecconimical I've had mine for over a year now done 23000kms science I've owned it and never had a single problem with it yet (has 197000kms up on it now) my parents also have one and they've had there's for over 12 years now and still going good. I have heard of sv21 camrys still running well with over 300000km/h up on the clock. these camrys are defently worth a look

Yeah mine has done 204,000 original engine and auto trans, no problems, just changed my CV boots for the 2nd time. Change the oil every 10,000 with magatec and a new filter, all works fine.

Go the SV21, but make sure it is about 1990 onwards. As for fuel consumption, mine obviously kicked arse over all the ones stated previously. Once i got 750klm out of the tank. Then again my engine had been serviced regularly since brand new and had only just clicked over 158000klms.
It is now written off though. But the engine is still fine, so i'm thinking about putting it in my ta22 - that's if the insurance company doesn't want it!

that something different, don't be expecting great things from it.
Considering you would have to do a RWD conversion i would say leave it and get something with more power, besides you should be able to get something for the engine if its in good nick.

sorry mines actually 9l/100km city cylce I was wondering why you said that yours kicked the other camrys arse in fuel ecconomy especally when you said you get 750kms out of a fuel tank I drove 680 km(toowoomba to noosa drove to beach and came back to toowoomba via brisbane (well didn't actually go through brissy but a bypass road) sitting on 110km/h ,120km/h most of the way and the gauge read by the time I got back here that it was in just under a 1/4 of a tank (sorry about mistakes I typed dunno what I'd get on a full tank of fuel but be close to 740km or 750km city cycle it gets about 550km to 575km that sucks about your camry mate but I reckon it would be wicked putting the motor in the ta22!

my parents SV21 has got 330 000kms on it and it is still going quite well. It is a 90 model. The main problems were the CV's needing replacing and that seems to be a camry thing as my grandpa's 96 camry already had its cv's replaced. As others have said fuel economy is very good and in general they are a great choice for a daily driver.
