im not a tightass its just im not gonna spend $2800 on a car that needs a paint job now unless u keep the same colour its gonna cost you about 2gran now that $4800 for a stock sprinter which unless its imacculate (which i don't know yet) i don't think is worth it, thats why i wanna know more about it

mate, seriously, grow a brain.
you say you're limit is 10k, but then you have a chance to buy an awesome Sprinter for that price with the Levin Steve-AE86 is selling, but then the excuse of "if it was a Trueno and white id buy it".
have a think about what you are going to type BEFORE you type it. 
and unless you havnt already worked it out, buying a stock Sprinter like the one in this thread, and doing it up (motor, respray, wheels, suspension, diff, brakes) will not give you much change out of 10k, quite possibly none at all. try being serious with your replies about Sprinters for sale, or maybe look at buying a different car altogether.

Ah ... sweet memories, my AE86 was an ugly duckling as well in poo brown colour, 264,000 km's on the odo but with a straight body. Bought it for a similar price as well.
Look how she's turned out now ... 
Good luck in the sale - there is lots of potential there if someone is willing to put in the effort.

man i cant believe this hasnt sold yet. The rust has been fixed, the dash is uncracked (a rarity these days)and its generally a nice clean car
considering how much people have been trying to sell these cars for lately () this is good buy.
who cares if the paint is a little iffy...you aren't buying a showcar 3k. If thats what you want spend your time on import sites not here

find a ricer forum that has somewhat experience with initial d(hot 4's comes to mind) .. lower it.. put 17 inch chromies on it.. and do some dodgy jap writing down the side

rust free decent condition sprinter for this low is a bargain

but to elaborate on his elegantly put point there are drifter wannabes out there that have seen a cartoon by the name of Inital D and think they can be full sic drift kings like takumi...they are the rotten apples that spoil the bunch
sprinters are the last of the rwd corolla...yes corolla...they have a weight distribution of something like 53/47...they are small, light and handle well. In stock aus spec form they suck (compared to their jdm bretheren)...basically an all round fun car....& yes hotcelica you can drift them...but you can drift any car
now....back on topic

my thinking was there must be something shithot about them, as in how you can compare a supra to a celica, with the supra having all the better options and that, i must be missing something
there is a lot of worked on ae86 on google search, but it dosnt say why they chose that car, is it easy to work on or just a better starting point for a low budget ? or the options....

no its got no lsd,
no its got no cracked dash,
no it didnt came from initial d and no takumi nor tsushiya-san have driven it...
