here again, got some problems that i havent fixed yet and some questions;
my fuel gauge dosent work, but the idiot light does, does this mean there is a problem with the sender or the gauge in the cluster? (wire fell out etc)
my oil pressure/temp (forget) dosent work, no idea (havent tried to fix yet)
there is a semi loud ticking noise from my engine(4ac) bay, increases as the rpm does, im thinking exhaust leak maybe(sounds like a lawnmover ) , but it could be from the head. it started when i thrashed the hell out of it then realised there was no oil....was just gonna thrash it till it dies or i get a new motor(which everone comes first)
head light adjuster is stripped/screwed, how do i get to where it pushes the headlight up/down to fix it, or do i need a new headlight?
thanks all

Fuel gauge and "idiot light" work off two different sensors. Check that there are no loose/broken wires first. Then you could try replacing the whole in-tank sender unit. There is a rubber access hole thing under the carpet in the hatch, keep digging until you get it out. Is an idea to drain the tank first.
On 4As oil pressure is fed off a single wire running from the sparkplug side of the block. Check this connection and trace it back.
Exhaust leak sounds like ticking, see if you can feel exhaust coming out round the manifold etc or take it to someone who knows the sound, they will be able to tell straight away. Or maybe your engine is just rooted.

most likely to be engine tappets or some shit like that which have come loose from too much revving.

alternatively, with your gauge (assuming it's not the wiring), you can clean up the contact on the senders resister.
When you pull the unit out of the tank, there is a box at the top of the bent arm (the movable one). Pop this off with a screwdriver and you'll see the resistor (a spring like piece) and the contact. Clean these up and then make sure the contact is good. I bent the contact plate down a little bit to ensure better contact.
Mine's been working well for over 6 months now.
