Can I put a 4AGE onto a K50 box?

I am planning on either a 3T or 4A conversion.. i read on this site http://home.clear.net.nz/pages/phil.bradshaw/trans mission.htm
about using K50 boxes on 4AGE i know that a K50 wont take the power of a GZE or a 20 Valve but it seems to me that i can use a K50 behind a 4AGE..one problem is that i couldnt read the article as my computer is crap and i couldnt read it all. My K50 box has an exedy hyper single plate clutch (don't ask me how i got it it came with the box) Do I need a different bell housing for a 4A block or should it fit up nicely?
It also saves me getting a hydrualic clutch setup that the T50 requires plus it saves me having to buy a T50 gearbox aswell.
Any help is appreciated

K50's are friggin rare in this country dude!
THe only ones i've known of are from the rare imported KE50 liftback, and maybe the ODD one or two that appeared in KE70's
If you're afraid of the T50 costs (thanks dorifto), go for the earlier type 20 pline T50 which none of the sprinter guys want, its what i use!

K50's aint rare, but a K50 with an A bellhousing certainly is..
both K50's have an integral cast bellhousing, so you MUST have one from an A series...
K boxes don't last behind K motors, and were used with the 2A? 3A? variants??
you should go the T50... i'm going T50 behind my 4K

because they aren't "Jap Spec"
There are in fact three different types of T50's. Im going to write a little pic article on the difference too.
TYPE 1: From TA22, TA23. 20 spline output shaft, smaller type input shaft bearing, forward shifter position.
TYPE 2: From TE72 (T18). 20 spline output shaft, smaller type input shaft bearings, rear shifter position.
TYPE 3: From AE71, AE86. 22 spline outpus shaft, larger input shaft bearings, rear shifter position.
I'm using the type 2 in my AE71, because im using entirely T18 driveline gear. I just bolted the type 3 (a series) bellhousing on the front and made sure it was sealed well with siliastic.
Ill get the pics up ASAP... im pulling the gearbox out today (hopefully) and can compare the type 3 and type 2. Just need an example of the type 1.

K50's also came in KE55's.
I have a Type 1. In fact, I have 2, except one is in questionable condition and the other is in a billion pieces.

Hmmmm, this may be a stupid question but do all T-50's come with an A series bellhousing that will bolt up to any 4AG regardless?
Oldcorolla mentioned earlier fitting a T-50 behind a 4K and I know that most 2TG's in KE20/25's often have a T-50 behind them as well. Is a different T50 bellhousing (if they exist at all) required for these motors (2TG & K series)?
I will probably fit a 4AG into my KE20 later on so I will be looking for a T-50 but do I need to find a certain model or can I just grab any? Sounds like I can but want to confirm.
Thanks for putting up fellas.

T-50's have a separate bellhousing (unlike K50's). T50's that came in cars that had T-series engines (like Celicas, T18's) have a T-bellhousing, and T50's that came in cars that had A-series engines (like AE71, AE86) have A-bellhousings. K-bellhousings for T50's are very rare, but it has been told that they do exist. What car they came in I have no idea.
I'm running an early Celica T50 (that had a T-series bellhousing) with an AE71 bellhousing.

im doing a type 2 T50, with an AE71 bellhousing...
demure - what did you do re. bellhousing having different sizes for the bearing reliefs etc? I think i used one of the washers from the AE71 bellhousing on the main input bearing, and something else for the other bearing.... and sealed the lot with silastic.

Yeh i bought a KE55 coupe once that i was gonna work on..but decided not to.. they only came in the XX model corolla where as mine is a CS model..they also have velour seats and door trims with map holders, lights and armrests on them.
So theres some trivia for you.
Does anyone have any idea of how much power a K50 with a heavy duty clutch can take??

Karl: I haven't even looked at that, so don't know... I don't have any of the washers etc from the AE71 box (I only bought the bellhousing), I was just going to use the washers from the Celica T50. Last time I checked they fit into the groove in the bellhousing...

I have been running a K50 behind a 100kw 4A for years now with no problems.
I am also using the extension housing from a KE55 5 speed so the shifter sits further forward.

hmm, not really.. i don't know of K to T bellhousings being released in australia, except for the very few KE35's that had T50's left over from the celicas...
i'm not sure what mine even came from, but it does say 5K on it....
