4AC Engine probs... Thu, 01 April 2004 05:52 Go to next message
i seem to have a small problem with my engine, its just a plain old 4AC(300xxx kms), and it starts no problems, and it drives nicely, but it i just go for a quick drive to a mates place, and sit around for about 10 mins, when i go to start the car again it wont turn over, but when i leave it for about an hour and a half, it has no problems?
does anyone know what the problem is, or how to fix this?
(the engine only idles at 500rpm, that prolly has something to do with it)
and I cant afford a conversion at the moment, so I really need to fix it and keep it going, it is in a sprinter by the way, and I dont thrash it, so i cant understand why it is so mean to me!
Thanks to anyone that can help me!
cheers.

Sounds like it could be the starter motor.

Try bridging the main + ve wire going to the starter with the terminal on the solonoid where the STA wire goes to.

If it cranks over means there is a wiring problem, or the STA wire might need a relay to give it some more juice.

If it doesn't crank over, then problem with solonoid.

Cheers

yah could be a starter problem the solinoid sometime sticks just give it a tap with something dont smash it but just a firm tap and try it if it works then its a starter motor

with the idle theres a idle adjustment screw on the carb just screw it out a turn or two till u get it up to about 750rpm
