Electrical query Thu, 01 April 2004 12:56 Go to next message
I'm setting up the wiring loom for my 100kW 4AGE (in a KE35), have a few questions:

Have put the loom together, power and ground, coil, ignitor, dizzy, map sensor and computer.

When I turn key to IGN, I can hear the relays click. Check engine light remains off. Turn to STA, fuel circuit on circuit opening relay turns on, back to IGN and it goes off (I think this is correct as the engine doesn't actually start?)

Turn the key to ACC, and check engine light comes on, turn to OFF and it's still on. On investigation it appears that the EFI relay remains ON after the key is switched to ACC or OFF. Using a test pen, it looks like for some reason IGN power still has a trace of power going through, enough to keep the relay closed. But if I release test pen and touch again it turns off.

Have checked grounding for relay, it's okay. Have changed ground, still same.

Any ideas? I'm guessing check engine light is coming on because IGN is off but EFI relay is still on. Can't figure out why there is still that trace of power keeping the relay close after turning the key off, it baffles me...
