nrma reckons the timing belt is shreaded.. but will check. i did a diagnostics on the spot and it gave me an error 12. 1 .05 second blink and 2 shorter blinks.

Its a bit difficult too say, what was the diagnosis code again.

I would think the motor would just die straight away if the timing belt broke.

done the belt but it still wont start. timing is set. dizzy might be weak as the power from the coil is strong but not from the dizzy to the sparkies..

any spare 100kw dizzy/rotors?

are you ABSOLUTELY sure that you have the cams in the right position?? did you rotate motor to check the valves are going up and down at the right time?

did you rotate motor to verify that the dizzy rotor is in the correct position relative to the cams, AND the crank?

not too often that a "dizzy is weak", since all it does is distribute spark....

double check your mechanical before starting an electrical diagnosis Wink

didn't knock off any plugs?

Re: Help my 4AG doesnt turn Sun, 04 April 2004 07:12 Go to previous messageGo to next message
yes im pretty sure my settings are -

cams
intake - 12 o clock (pin matches the alignment)
exhaust - nearest to 12 0 clock (pin matches the alignment)

crank set to 0 bdtc

findings -

coil is good its putting out. ignition leads arent putting out power. i have tried 2 batteries and from the cap Im not getting any power and yes the cap has been set too.

pistons 1 and 4 are at dtc (cams are set to pins, crank at 0) and can be felt with a screw driver that they are at the top.

no no, what i mean is..

"have you verified that your valves are opening and closing at the correct time"

that is CRUCIAL to the motor running, and cylinders firing.

aftyer you have mechanically verified that the valves are opening (looking at pins is not good enough Wink )

then MECHANICALLY VERIFY that the dizzy is in the correct position.

from the cap you are not getting power??? what exactly do you mean by that?

if the coil is putting out, then either the dizzy is not aligned correctly, the cams are not aligned correctly, or you've bent and broken the conductors in your leads...

it is most likely to be something mechanical, cam timing, dizzy timing, damage to leads, etc..

as for igntion leads... they should be approximately 3K ohms per foot.

Why dont you read this....

thanks karl

i found out what it was.. haha i feel so stupid right now.. Laughing

I DID rotate the crank so its dtc and pistons were hitting the top BUT I didn't look for the cavity pin on the intake cam shaft under the oil cap to see if it was compression. doh Shocked

i assumed it was compression becuase turning the crank it got heavy so i assumed.. haha it should start tommorow morning when theres light.

ok now the bitch turns! Surprised

but its idling rough, sounds like the map sensor is unplugged (alittle rotor styling) and it stalls

ive tried the 4ag book but still no avail.

its hard to start needs throttle or else it will just crank any ideas?
