corona questions Fri, 02 April 2004 00:56 Go to next message
Just reading through the forum i have 3 questions that i don't believe have been answered on coronas. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

(1): What is the standard diff ratio in the 1986 CSi 22RE coronas with IRS.

(2): If the 86 CSi 22RE coronas came with a shorter stroke engine in Australia, does anyone know how the head stud pattern differs from the earlier long stroke block.

(3): Was there any car with the early 21R head/engine that came to Australia.

thanxx for any help you can give.

(1) Check the axle code on your build plate (rivetted to the firewall in the engine bay) for the definitive answer. Probably 3.5:1 though.

(2) All 22R's have the same stroke, it's the deck height which differs. I don't know which version the Corona got though.

(3) Yes, the RA60 Celica has a 21R-C. I'm not sure what you mean by "early" though.

In one of the other threads someone was saying that to improve the 22RE use the head off a 20R but this only works on early (pre 85) 22RE's then they went on saying if you can find an early 21R head it is like the 20R head but will fit on a late 22RE. Thats why i'm interested in how the head stud pattern changes between 85-86.

would the 21R-C head fit on an 86 22RE and most importantly would it do anything.
