hahaha hold on mate couldn't post any messages till my dad got home with the lap top, anyway its nothing to be excited about,
first of all the graph of it before they did any work was pretty shocking once it hit reach output it just droped straight down so now its got a bit more power and then once it hits peak it only slowly starts to go back down but its not very powerful, now either a few people have bull shitted to me about what has been done to it or its just in bad need of a rebuild i don't know but it had 44Kw and 155Nm of torque and after an hour on the dyno and after changed the jets and ignition points it now has a much smoother power curve and has 50Kw and 169Nm of torque, nothing to get excited about but he said he couldn't get the timing right as the timing chain tensioner or something is stuffed (thats whats causing the rattle at idle) and needs replacing but yeah its a 13.5% power boost and 9% boost in torque which i can't complain about but i'm hoping once i fix the timing chain and everything i may be able to get a bit more out of the engine, but i think thats a pretty good torque output for a RC engine.
also i've been told that this place's dyno readings are out as people have had there car on it then taken it some place else and had higher readings but i'm not sure if they are true or not anyway its not to bad a result but i was expecting much more from what i've been told about my engine 111Kw at the flywheel???? yeah and pigs fly
and for those who missed it, before= 44Kw, 155Nm After=50Kw, 169Nm
anyway nothing to be upset about but nothing to get excited about either, but lets just see what happens when i change the timing chain and tensioner and so forth and get it back on there, maybe they can then get a bit more out of it by being able to set the timing properly.
anyway now i can smoke the tyres in round abouts when i plant my foot whilst in 2nd gear so i'm a bit happier
I wish bigworm didn't fix his engine that way i'd have 2.5KW more then him but then again he has no PROOF it has now got more power so i can live in hope

We might just have to sort out the power issue the old fasioned way....
(can't we get some specialty car related smilies, like one doing a little burnout or something? Or 2 little smilies draging?)

GIN51E, replace the timing chain tensioner quickly before it eats a hole in the timing cover and busts through to a water pipe!
Speaking from experience...
Bigworm, I have contemplated the smilies, but I try to keep them the same size (15x15) so that the alignment on the posting form isn't screwed up....
If you can find any in 15x15, then send them on!

Hmm... That's way too large. It'll really screw things around.
Plus you can't really shrink things like that, especially that much.

Nah, no animated GIFs for avatars...
You could just stick it somewhere and just use it when you need to...

YO GIN51E!?!?!
where did you end up getting the DYNO tune?? did you go to rallyquip or somewhere else? im interested to know because as you may or may not know i wanna get my 18RGU w/twin 45dcoe webers dyno tuned to perfection...
also do u know how hard it is or how expensive to get the timing chain tensioner fixed/replaced? cos mine is leaking oil and may also have the same problem as yours
cheers dude... and ill see ya on sunday. We'll be finding out how close the GT is to 50RWkW!!

umm Witzel i have no idea how much those parts cost and how easy they are to change, hoping someone else could tell me that umm got it done at Horsnby Prestiege car performance, my friends is friends with the guy who owns it so thats how i got it done there.
and your car has a RG correct? well shouldn't that have heaps more power then mine anyway?
as i thought 50 at the wheels isn't anything to be proud of, what does a fully stock rc put out at the wheels? anyone know?

Hey GIN51E - Have you had a look at the Dyno results other people have got in the "Previous Events" section?
Might give you a bit of an idea what others are getting with similar engines..

cool mate... well 50RWkw is not too bad a figure... and i wouldnt imagine mine does all that much more than that... if higher at all.... factory my engine was sposed to have around 88 kw at the fly... (18RGU was slower than 18RG) but ive had webers added and exhaust so i dont know what benefit they have played.

I'll be getting a new exhaust soon... 2" Mandrel Bent, new cat, 'Bazooka' style muffler and a 3 maybe 4" dump-tip... Hopefully that'll up the kW a bit...

Well i'm still not happy and would like 70kw but that could prove to be very hard to obtain without major work as that would be trying to get a 40% increase, but i looked at the past dyno day results and out of all the 18-RC's mine has the highest output so i have to be happy with that. also here is the graph its a little hard to see but u can guess which was the first reading.

On the second most recent dyno day (last year) my Celica managed to pull 43kw at the wheels. I'd like to give mine a tune and see how it goes against yours. It's getting pretty dodgy these days though.

As far as I know, all that's been done to it is a weber (off an escort I think), extractors and a 2 inch exhaust. It's an RA40 motor and it's had all the pollution shite disconnected.
I'll be on the cruise on Sunday.
