Removing Overspray Fri, 02 April 2004 22:16 Go to next message
Hey guys, just to let u know I have researched this topic a little and this is what i have come up with so far...

"Brasso and a bit of elbow grease for the lenses to get any overspray off. It will also polish them up nicely."{gianttomato}

"You can get them restored im pretty sure - or use some sort of fine cutting compound to buff them back to a shiner finish - though im not 100 % sure on what to use for this ( ive heard toothpaste , mothers fine polish or nu-finish for three examples but dont try these UNTIL you find out for sure ) the process shouldnt be any different to polishing Cd's." {Classique71}

Just wanted some clarification, i want to be 100% sure of what's safe to use on my GT lenses because i've ruined a set of tail lights in the past...

Cheers, Troy

if u wanna remove overspray, industrial fallout, nuclear fallout and tree sap, use Meguiars Clay and Final Inspection, the clay looks like a bar of soap and u use the final inspection to "lube" the bodywork and then u rub it, we use it at my work when detailing the cars, they swear by it

problem is, the clay cost like $60

Is this more in regard to removing over spray from lights etc, not other panels?

If you want a spare blinker or something to practice/experiment on I should have one you can grab Smile (at the same time as the motor Razz )

Cheers
Wilbo

brasso would be a good place to start. it's cheap, and even if it doesn't remove the paint, it wont hurt the plastic (it's used to polish plastics, if you're fanatical, after sanding with 300/600grit sandpaper).
depends how bad your overspray is I guess - if it's speckles, definitly brasso. if it's more, maybe try the maguires clay (cant comment on it tho - never used it)
