Hey guys!! i finally got my celica on the road as u all may know, and now i am to the point of replacing the timing chain.
Went on beautifully, all the cams stayed in time etc, maked it all and still runs good. Just now i have a VERY annoying bad sound comming from the rocker cover. Sounds to me like a valve tapping of some sort. But the timing chain rattle is fixed. Is it possible that due to the engine being run on a timing chain that was 1cm longer (streched) than the original, and therefore the cams not workin on the exact time, that one of the cams could have been worn in the wrong way? causing this tapping now that its back in time with hte new chain?
Any other ideas? Valves wouldnt be effected by a timing chain change i wouldnt say...considering it still runs smooth.
But i havnt got an 18r-g book. Could someone scan a couple of pages of specs for the valves and stuff? or post.
I need the valve clearance, (yamaha head)
And whatever else info u might know in help of fixing this problem. I swear if i blow this motor for some unknown reason ill b sooo pissed. Smile but all ideas would be greatly appriciated.
Cheers

My friend's uncle (the person borrowing the book now) has pested me to sell it to him. Unfortunately it is the only one I have and I dont wish to sell it, sorry.

I am in Byford (about 40k's South of Perth).

I am aware there are differences in the heads but I doubt very much the clearances would change and on the chance that they do, I doubt it would be much (1 or 2 thou).

I am happy to either photocopy or scan any pages you require.

Oh yeh thats no worries mate. Im unsure on what pages ill need.
Probably just the all the specs pages would be nice for the 18r-g? theres a couple at the end of the book.
