Sorry, wrong.

79 - 82 are X code.

83-84 (drop hatch) are supposed to be U code, althought the 2k powered KP60 may still have the X Code.

fair enough..

when i was in Seattle, i saw B and X code LSD's that were removed from a starlet to put in a T series....

recently there was an import shop.... was it rolin? that had a B series LSD and they were claiming it was a starlet one... they even measured it, and was definitely B.

is it possible that B fits into an X housing? (not that you'd bother tho)

thanks for the correction Wink

this is what i was told about it..

Quote:

Stewart thanks for the enquiry ! Measured the crown wheel and its 5.7 in diameter - the ratio is 3.4 and yes you get the whole setup as seen in the photo ........ And that centre is a 2way LSD . Anything else we do for you let me know .

so, is 5.7" B or X Wink. i say it's B, since i have a B in my KE15...
seems they are a little confused too?

A little Starlet background to help out.
KP61, 62 or 60 refers only to engine size (4k, 3k and 2k respectively). There where three generations within the 6X series, bugeye (round headlights, 78-79ish), non drop hatch (hatch above tailights, same as bugeye but square lights, 80-82) and drop hatch (plastic bumpers, hatch comes down between tailights, sloped grille, 83-84).
I am fairly certain on the X code bit for pre drop hatch, this is the code used by TRD for the LSD when they were raced in the US (now out of production). You can (from a very very reliable source) fit U code centres into X code housings if you use the appropriate axles.
I am definite on the 83-84 U code (except for the 2k KP60), when I blew mine a KE70 centre was identical and went straight in with the Starlet axles.
Whether the B and X are interchangable I don't know. Will consult with my expert when I get a chance.

Just did a bit more research on this.
B is listed as 145mm or 5.7 inches.
X is listed as 142mm or 5.6 inches.
Info from Matti's site.

Maybe they needed a more accurate tape measure?

OK some extra info from my Toyota diff expert.
U code centre fits X code.
U code centre fits B code.
Therefore, theoretically X and B code centres should interchange assuming you have the right axles (he had not done this particular swap so had never compared axle splines). So the LSD centre would fit both the B and X code assuming you had the approriate axles (or the axles may be the same).

thanks for the info Callum Smile, yeah i was going to ask them to check, but... you know how it is... then agin, it's still for sale months later..

i know someone who ran a TRD LSD (i think B code) in his KE15 in the classic adelaide.. he actually blew up one of the axle spider gears!! i wouldn't be choosing a B series even for my 4K (tho they last a while).. mmm T series would do it i think..

have to look more into the axle types... afaik, KE30 (U) fit into KE20 and KE10 centres (B) with attention to axle length, s the splines are likely to be the same..

heh heh, it is all a bit much.. too damn small and too damn close in size..

why the heck did they make a 5.6 and 5.7?? soudns odd.. even for toyota Wink
