heat resistance of radiator rubber Sun, 04 April 2004 13:27 Go to next message
alrighty, I popped by clark rubber to pick up some rubber to fill in the gaps around my thermo fan shroud... I wanted 100+ degree stuff, but they only stocked 90+ and 70+.
I needed 6mm thick (it's a farily large gap, so the rubber cant be too flexible) and the 90+ was only available in 3mm, so I went the 70+

I'm wondering if this will survive being between my thermos and the radiator. 1jz runs at around 90 degrees, so I'm a little nervous.

90+ will only be around top tank and upper part of rad?

by the time you've baked it stiff&brittle (from being over-heated) other things will need replacing? it's not like it'll suddenly melt and flame up Smile
