1UZ FOR MA61 Mon, 05 April 2004 07:44 Go to next message
Yes, I know this has been discussed before but I have yet to find anything definitive about things such as sump location, oil filter location, fan type (thermo, hydraulic, belt), ecu (combined with auto or not), header type and even performance differences.
The delema is I have the option of several front cuts to choose from, most of which are not within driving distance and price difference can be quite substantial.

Any one who can point me in the right direction for a list of all the differences or if i can get enough correct information assembled I can even submit something for ed ma61's web page.

Thanks in advance

Leigh.

Front sump.
Remote oil filter or you will never be able to change it.
You want an auto or manual?
Stock fan will be 2 cylinders away from the normal position....

Edit:
Easiest manifold to fit:

Have a look at the UZX73 page, it's very similar to the MA61 in terms of installation.

hey blacksupra

i just found a tiny oil filter for my 1uz in my hilux

its about 3 to 4 fingers wide and diameter is perfect

i have a rear oil filter

not to sure on how it would fit on a front oil filter
which is on a lexus motor

so i saved some money on a remote oil filter kit and i dont have any thick hoses

I got quoted 3G for professional installation of the 1UZ-FE in my MA61 (2JZGTE would have cost too much as insurance would not insure a young man), that does not include the half cut Rolling Eyes.

Hope it helps you in your desision, as I am in the same delema (no car)...

Cheers.

...what did the 3g involve...

Yep, I phoned an importer a few weeks ago and they told me, Drive in with old engine & box in car, modifications to radiator etc... Drive out with different engine, transmission & engineering certificate minus exhaust (not included in the quote). *don't this it as a quote from me* Rolling Eyes

Cheers.

Mind PMing me who?

That is an excellent price.....a little too excellent.

Pete, my Crown UZS131 manifolds look nothing like those. The drives side manifold has a big divot and compression in it to provide adequate room for steering box clearance. Also the flanges to the mid pipes only have 2 bolts rather that 3 as on the Lextreme site.

Hahaha, thats what CrUZsida thought, it still needed modifying tho.
it physically fits without modification, but don't expect to be able to turn the wheel

Mine fit without modifications (and yes it was the one that curved around the steering arm)

i'm making headers to fit in my application, using the head flange and losing the log manifold.
it's easier than modding the header to clear the steering linkage.
it's costing me $200 in bends and is a lot easier than i first thought.

Yeah, I had to take about 10mm out of the already strangled part

It fouled DIRECTLY where the bolt for the knuckle is

Yeah, mine are the same as yours GT, but it still fouled
They hug the block more, and first cyl isnt curved, but cut at an angle and welded

These are the ohter crown ones btw (or maybe the soarers)

ZZT231 I Too would be interested in who would do this for 3 grand.

Ok, so I need remote oil filter etc. etc. and from what I can gather one of the crown's should fit the bill. Now where do I get one for a good price?

GT, I have a feeling you are located not to far from me, would it be possible to sneak a look at what you have planed for the crown.

Thanks for the info.

Hmmm, our crown ones look like the pic at the top... but WHO CARES they ALL SUCK! Surprised Another thing, who cares about oil filter location? It's so easy to cut up the stocky filter system and make it a remote mount... a few minutes work with the hacksaw, oxy torch and some fittings, then get hoses and put the filter where the hell you like Evil or Very Mad
