1GGTE error codes Mon, 19 August 2002 12:40 Go to next message
Well my car ran like a dog yesterday so I ran a diagnostics on it and I got 25 and 42, I disconnected the battery and let it clear and it seems to be running OK now, I haven't checked it again. Just curious as to what they are.

Can't recall what 25 is but 42 is 'no speed signal'.

Grant is correct (of course) 42 refers to the fact that u do not supply a vehicle speed to the computer. that is signal informing ECU that vehicle speed is 2.0 km/h or less has been input to ECU for 5 seconds with engine running at 3,000 rpm or more.

There is no code 25 - are u sure that u have read the readout correctly.

My reference is a Japanese language 1ggte engine manual.

I heard that the codes are simmilar to 7MGTE codes, after checking on the net I found several sites with the codes up and 25 was lean mixture detected. could that be it?

The 1GGTE engine manual does not have a error code 25 (neither does the 1GGZE or 1GGE) so I would suggest it does not exist. Are u sure that you read the code correctly. Note that 52 refers to the knock sensor.

Well this is a pain in the ass!!

It is definently 25. I was looking up information on the toyota OBD systems and most websites said that the OBD system had stayed the same forever, until the OBD 2 came out. All sites said that 25 was a lean mixture.

DO the 1GGTE manuals have a lean mixture code at all?

Have a look in the gallery in the toymods site. I put them there some time ago.
