icon5.gif  Stock Soarer Mags on widebody camry? Tue, 06 April 2004 04:07 Go to next message
Hi everyone

I know a guy who will sell me the stock mags off his soarer. The offset of these wheels is 50 and they are a 16" size wheel, and apparently the offset for my camry is 45. It sounds strange to me that mags off a RWD car like the soarer will fit my FWD car

Can anyone tell me if these will fit ??,

Thanks in advance, Loki

I have a feeling the PCD will be different. The Soarer is 114.3mm while the Camry is probably 100mm.

Actually, i just checked it up, the PCD 114.3 but apparently the offset on my model camry (94) is 35...38,

still clueless,

Loki,
You really need to be coming down in offset as you increase rim diameter and width, so for your originally 2.2l 14 inch / 3.0l 15 inch wheeled Camry to fit 16 inch rims, the offset must reduce, not get bigger. I think you will struggle to fit 16 inch 50 mm offset Soarer rims, they are likely to foul against the struts on your widebody.
Cheers,
Mitch.

Unfortunately they will not fit. I have been in a similar situation:

* Used to own a Vienta widebody (only the V6 had PCD 114.3, not the I4 of the same chassis).
* Had 18"x8" wheels on it using +35mm offset.
* Supra 16" are 8" wide also, but +50mm, meaning they sit closer to the "middle" of the car than normal rims.

The 18"x8" used to clear the strut by a measly 5mm. I am fairly confident that you will never fit +50mm offset rims onto the car unless you install huge (and illegal) spacers.

Soarer, I agree with what you have said except for this:

* Used to own a Vienta widebody (only the V6 had PCD 114.3, not the I4 of the same chassis).

I have an early 97 widebody I4 and have fitted std Camry V6 15 inch steel rims in place of the 14 inch wheels on the stock car.
The PCD was the same. I have not measured it, but the 15 inch steel wheels fit very nicely thank you.

Mitch.

Interesting, must have been *just* before they released the Gen4 Camry (which all have 5x114.3). I've never seen an I4 with that PCD, but if you have one, I stand corrected.
