MX83 rims & lowering

A couple of weeks back I was looking at some nice 17" rims to replace the stock 15s on my cressida grande (nice rims, but a tad small and look too much like my old datto's trx rims).
Does anyone know if 235/45 tyres on 17s would scrub on a cressida if it's lowered? mine's not, but I dont wanna buy rims and then not be able to use them when i sort out the suspension.

Hey Biggav, I've been ringing around for lowering springs for mine also...and I wonder if I get springs similar to yours (eg. 2" front, 3" rear) but use 16 X 8 Rims, will I also need to roll the guards etc. (I guess it depends on the ultimate rolling diameter of the wheel/tyre combination, right?)
BTW. How much did your springs cost, and where did you get them?

rolling the guards gives you about 10mm more clearance - sometimes that's all it takes!! if u are going 8 inch wide you might have a problem - maybe someone here can enlighten us, but my guess is 7.5 inch max...
doesn't really matter on the overall rolling, just comes down to width in the end...
i paid $186 a pair for the kmacs, took 8 days to get here, got them from autosport on magill rd adelaide, (my price btw, think they're around $220 retail) i could have gone to industrial springs, but it would have taken 4 weeks, and only been 2 inch max... only $119 a pair tho...

MX83 Rims and Clearances
As long as the wheel offsets are kept between the 50mm factory setting and the usual 45mm aftermarket offset you can pretty much put anything on the back, fronts are 7x16,7.5x17 and 8x18 max without mods and 205,215,225 tyres respectively
Ok, I've had 16x8 front and 16x9 rear with 225/50 and 245/50 on mine both with 50mm offset (off the jza80 supra) the rears fitted with room to spare and no rubbing, the fronts were a problem and the struts and inner plastic guards had to be modified to clear the tyres and rims.
I now have 18x8's 45mm offset with 235/40 and 255/35 and have not rolled the guards. standard front struts clear ok and still have the modified front plastic inner guards so no problems with rubbing
the car is lowered 30mm front and 50-60mm rear.
Trial fitting is the only way to go.
