What clutch/flywheel do you guys use?
The stock 200mm or the 212mm?
What cars did the 212mm setup come in?

What clutch/flywheel do you guys use? 200mm (I had it), clutch made by Direct Clutch in QLD
The stock 200mm or the 212mm? as above..
What cars did the 212mm setup come in? the later 4AG's, 100kw+20valve
Except, if you're planning to build a 4AG turbo and use a T50, don't expect it to last too long if you give it much of a hiding... learn from my mistake! it will save $ in the long run...

I have got a W57, but can't get the bellhousing in New Zealand. Not at a reasonable price that is.

I bought the Dellows one recently (still gotta put it in!), and for the (somewhat high) price, its not exactly well constructed... but then again, if it does the job, does it matter if it ain't pretty? Then again, if you already HAVE the W57, then use the money from selling the intact T50 to help fund a new bellhousing. Also, make sure you get a decent clutch! That little mistake cost me a bloody fortune...

What clutch/flywheel do you use for the W - 4AG bellhousing?
I assume you still can't use the 225mm GZE setup.

I use the dellows bellhousing with the 200mm (as I had it, 212 would be better)
you CAN use the GZE setup, if you're willing to attack the innards of that bellhousing with a grinder - I wouldn't want to get too viscious though, as it doesn't have strengthening ribs or anything like that... I'm gonna stick with my current clutch/flywheel for now as direct clutch reckoned they couldn't match the clamping force (anywhere near) on the GZE pressure plate. I suppose though that a multi plate GZE clutch would really be the go (does anyone know who might make one?)

Not YET... although I trashed 2 clutches and had to get me a mega clamping force one to at least get some kind of grip. Lets just say me and clutches have had a *few quiet words* to each other since I started messing with my car. The first 2 clutches I used (one of them being a 3 puck ceramic) certainly didn't do much to make me happy...

do you mean that you machined off the bolt extensions on the GZE flywheel & redrilled the holes for another pressure plate? I wondered if this would work......

Hi guys,
With a mega clamping clutch etc do you need to upgrade the hydraulics that operate the clutch at all?
Cheers.

Hydraulic clutches are a lot more tolerant than cable ones. F'r instance, you can stand on/kick/whatever you like your brake pedal, and it'll survive. If your cable clutch jams, and you jump on the pedal, generally something will break. I was using stocky hydraulics with a crook looking hose that had been wrapped in alfoil (from a previous 4ag installation) right next to the exhaust for a fair while, still never gave any trouble.

What pressure plate did you get it drilled for?

looking at my GZE flywheel today, i cant see how you could fit a decent size pressure plate to it if you did machine off the extensions & redrill it.
the GZE has a 225mm clutch plate. The pressure plate mounts away from the flywheel surface on the extensions mentioned. This appears to be so that you can run the large clutch plate (225mm) with a relatively small pressure plate diameter.
the 3TGTE clutch is also 225mm, however the pressure plate mounts flush with the flywheel like most toyota setups.
BUT. the 3TGTE pressure plate (which is the same size as most supra non turbo clutches) is definately too big in diameter for the GZE flywheel, despite them having the same 225mm clutch plate.
so what can you use?

Try and find the best GZE clutch kit you can I suppose. Maybe I'll end up trying to get a multi plate one made someday, doubt I'd ever be able to afford the likely cost though... But a GZE pressure plate with about 2500+ lbs clamping force, and a decent full faced clutch plate should be usable and grip pretty well too. Get on the phone, and start harassing any clutch place anywhere in australia (or the world?) Do TRD or anyone have something? hmmm... (thinking I may eventually be needing such parts) Remember as I said before - do NOT skimp on the clutch! It cost me a fortune!
