Hey all
Newb Question here ...
Now obviously if u change to rims that have a bigger rolling diameter...u lose performance. But u can counter that by changing your gearbox etc to get your gearing back to normal right ??
I'm just wondering is there any advantage to doing this as opposed to leaving the rolling diameter and gearbox stock ???
Ta ppl

Rolling diameter depends on the tyres too, that's why you go to lower profile tyres if you get bigger wheels...
Try this tyre size calculator: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Higher gears/diff ratio will give you back some of the lost torque but will also lower your top speeds through each gear. Depends on what you want to achieve I suppose...

what I'd be asking is, is it worth spending all the $$$ on something that you are probably not going to notice anyway?
adding a couple of cm's to your overall tyre diameter is going to do twotenths of buggerall, at least noticably buggerall. However if you looked into getting the gerabox re-ratio'd, then took that money and did something to make it go better then everything would even itself out nicely, the car would be faster (hopefully) and you wouldn't have spent a lot of money to get no where....and here I am speaking from experience...and the brokeness that always follows
