I've always used a slide hammer with a hooked end to get in behind, the bush should be shorter than the depth of it's hole, it should pull out. Just remember to work around the circumference of the bush as you pull.

I've also heard of packing grease behind the bearing and then using a bolt (or something that just fits in the spigot hole) to force the bearing out.

Cheers

pack in the grease and tap a bolt though the bearing.

over the last 20 years used it more times than I care to think, too easy and no big bucks.

what do u mean tap it through the bearing. So it gets jammed in the hole and then just pull out or so it goes through the hole and then pull???

i dont see how it can be in the flywheel. doesnt your flywheel have to slide over your crank in the centre???. I know mine does. I spent 3 hours thismorning pulling it apart.

The grease acts as the medium, the bolt should slide through the spigot. You use the bolt to 'hydraulic' out the spigot. The grease compresses as you hit the bolt INWARDS with a hammer and the spigot is pushed outwards. A little messy but very effect. You will need to repack the hole a few times as you go.

Even better used a stuffed input shaft from and old box instead of a bolt.

No don't jam the bolt in.

Completely fill the cavity with bearing grease or similar which doesn't compress, when the bolt is tapped in, the grease pushes the bearing out, you may need to top it up once or twice.

It's quick and does absolutely no damage.

Just use a small ball pein hammer, you don't have to bash it.
