Well, they're actually the late Cressida(ie, the last model of Cressida realeased in Australia)
And, yes, he is correct. The MX83 has a 7mge, which came in the ma70(i think thats the right model).

Although, Toymodders seem to really hate this engine for the headgasket issue and some other things which i have no idea what they are.

But dont buy a cressida just for this, buy one so you can put a 1jz or a 1uz in. Or, if you really want, a 7m-gte(ie, the turbo varient of the 7m).

even the older cressidas had supra engines-

the pre 86 (I THINK) ones had the 5M-E 2.8 sohc 6... (In the MA47 Supra (1st Gen Supra), and the aus-spec MA61(2nd Gen Supra))

Afterwards they had the 5M-GE 2.8 DOHC 6... which everyone else got in their MA61s. A fair bit more powerful too.

So yeah, i guess they do.

I've read somewhere that they took the supra car, made it a sedan and a bit more luxury and that was the birth of the Cressida....

correct me if im wrong Very Happy

hey mate, do you have a manual box for it? and if so what kind, and what did you do about the pedals? i have an mx73 cressy (hand-me-down from mum!) and i was thinking of converting it to manual, and further down the track going the 1JZ-GTE option, but i'm not sure if there's a gearbox which'll bolt to both the 1J and the 5M. are there any major chassis difference between the mx73 and mx83 cressy? can you bolt in a 1J into an mx73 just as easily as into an mx83? i've heard no, but cant find much info on the subject, and found that quite surprising. just wondering what the normal thing to do is? any ideas or info would be great.

well the w58 seems to be the one that ppl use on everything???
the auto's is much faster in a straight line though...plus the i dont know how well the w58 will hold up behind a 1J (i guess its the way you drive that wrecks them)

but yeah most 1J cressi's i know of are auto (they work well i hammer mine through mountain runz ect. and its fine)

Um, unless your car runs better than 11's and/or your driving sucks, an auto will not be faster anywhere.
