Hey guys,
Ive found a celica that looks interesting. It is a 92, i think perhaps a st185, im not sure. At any rate, it has a 5S-FE, stock (except for basscannon exhaust end which does sfa), 17 inch chrommies a pioneer deck, a 12 inch sub and two 6 by 9s in the rear hooked up to an amp....and thats it, like no front speakers
The car itself is in allright nick, engine sounds like its running well. The only problem i found is that the suspension has been lowered and im not sure how well it has been done.
My questions to you people that know stuff are,
1. is this a good buy for $8000?
2. is it a better buy for $7000 or slightly less, without the chrommies and without the sub and amp?
3. if the suspension turns out to be ok, then my only worry is the engine, can a 5S-FE have any balls? coz it certainly didnt seem like it when i took it for a spin.
4. What the hell model is it? anybody?
My next query is, do ST162's or st165's come with the 3S-GTE? if so what model are they (sx etc)
Basically im looking for a 90' model or later celica which looks good, goes hard, and is around the $6K to $8K mark. Any advice would be helpful.
P.S sorry if any of this has been covered before, im just really strapped for time and i would really appreciate people opinions on prices etc for the current day.

ok - as it seems the search button isnt working - info in a nutshell
st162 - 3sge non turbo twin cam - front wheel drive
st165 - 3sgte turbocharged all wheel drive ( its a gt4 - the original )
5sfe is a good motor if you like economy and less than haert racing performance - its " twin cam " head is the econo version - built for cheap running and not sporty performance
3sge - has the G series twin cam head which is more tuned to performance respponse and fun .. much better
youll pick up a post 1990 celcia for less than 8k - but expect it to be in ordinary shape , and 5sfe equipped .. for 4 K more you can get yourself a cheap Gt4 ( mine cost me 11 grand )
if you want sub 8k prices - get yourself a st162 - they are mega fun and responsive and have the better 3sge motor installed .. Still front wheel drive but youll get alot more performance related fun from one ..
