Hi im in the the process of enlarging my 1jzgte plenum and ading a extra throtle body to it as im interested to see wat the affects will be ive read somewhere that aiming for atleast twice the engine capacity as the volume of the plenum is ideal. im intending to basically double the volume of the factory plenum and adding a aditional 1j throtle body with aditional feed from intercooler ive seen a few 2jz with big manifolds and 100mm throtle bodys and subzero in australia seems to do this sort of thing to many of there carsd oes any one have any sugestions or technical info about these mods im intrested to know the physics behind it all and wat is the best way to go about it. input and discution appreciated

Be careful making these type of changes, especially the TB.
If your TB is too big then you will have lots of trouble trying to tune the engine. plus there is the added complexity of getting two of them in sinc.
A word of advice, do the mods that the engine needs, not what you think would look cool. Do you really think you have reached the limits of your existing TB?? Now that would be a serious performer.

yeah im aware there are a few traps to fall into particularily to do with TPS calibration i was planing to have the seconnd throtle geared to open on the last 25% of the main throttle so the ecu would be in or near a WOT condition im mainly doing this as an exsperiment as will cost me nuthing and i have a spare manifold if its good and makes improvement sweet. if not i rekon its worth a play im confident that there are sum gains to be made provided its executed well il post the results either way wen its done hopfully in a week or 2

hmmmmmmmm I'm thinking two turbo's plumbed to individual intercoolers then to individual throttle bodies. Now that would be cool
I think one of the injected 308 Group A commodore motors (VL/VN) had a similar set up on them, except they were different sizes.
There is no reason why it couldn't work, but I still think it's overkill for your motor. Do you know if your existing single TB is actually restricting flow??? Have you tested it?? I'd hate to think you were doing all that work and risking tuning problems all for the sake of a barely measurable reduction in flow restriction.
But if your doing it just to have something that looks different, then by all means go for it. But at least take an educated approach and do some before and after measurements to see what improvements you've made. I am sure heaps of people would be interested to see what your gains are.

yeah definately should be interestn i know that the factory T/B doesnt stop u from makin pwr but thought id hava go because ive never seen it done [famous last words lol] on a 1j b4 seen a few on rb25/26 engines but they were all pretty serious machines. Id really like to know the theory behind it all
