i have an ae82 4ac and the charge light comes on but only when the engine is idiling alright when im driving along with some revs.
\does anyone know what the problem could be and if it could be fixed easily with minimal cost

The belt could be slipping.
Although this happened in my old ae86, it would go off and stay off if you give it a rev and ti didnt suffer from flat batteries or anything like that.

yeh it goes off when im drivin along then comes back on again checked the belt still tight etc but might just be suffering old age so i think im goin to replace it and get it checked out by auto elec.

Thing is, every 4AC I've ever had has had a crook alternator. They struggle to manage any kind of load even when they're in good order, seem to fail, plus are ugly with that nasty external regulator. It's not too hard to adapt another alt, anyways...
