Yes they are interchangeable. However you may have to change your steering wheel assembly as well as they are different lengths.
I'm guessing there'd only be about 1 or 2Kg difference in weight of the racks but then you have the pump, lines and fluid to consider.

you definateley need to change your steering column they are different lengths i converted to manual rack in my AE82 found out after it was all bolted in lucky i had a donor car
the only reason i swapped is is cos i didnt want to F**K around with hooking it all up after converting to GZE power as the pump mounts differently on the other side of the engine
