URGENT!!!!! 1G-GTE vs 1G-GE crankshaft

Hi all,
Urgent help needed here... How similar are the 1G-GE and 1G-GTE crankshafts? Reason being, my 1G-GE crankshaft seems to be in not the best shape, and I can only find 1G-GTE crankshafts.
I need this info fairly soon
Thanks!

I can't fathom there being any difference at all, there is nothing special about the 1GGTE really. My guess is they are the same.

I sooo want to
It's all an issue of money, and my dad telling me to repair my current engine (by hiring a mechanic to come out, costing me way more than doing the GTE swap).
I'm pretty sure I can make it if I can sell my 1G-GE to someone! It's almost out of the engine bay, i've just stalled since dad started to talk to me about it... I think i'd better talk to him, and show him the costs.

Don't end up like Cyber_punk, spending more dollars on an inferior engine, and when you want to put something more worthwhile into it, the uber expensive 1GGE isn't worth squat.

I just talked to my dad about the current engine... he almost insisted that I call a mobile mechanic to come out and at least diagnose the problem. That'd be a good $99 wasted.
I do not know how to convince him that swapping the engine is a good idea

remove oil from engine, run at high rpm til seized, explain to father that engine requires replacing ..
seriously... if the cranks is stuffed then it's likely that other moving parts will need replacing, plus when you factor in labour costs of a full rebuild which you have to do to remove cranks (and if head is off then it woudl be stupid not to freshen it up) then a replacement rapidly looks smarter.
do a spreadsheet up that outlines costs of both procedures - ignore the 'turbos are too bloody dangerous' statements and win this argument on bottom line costs.

Yeh, the costs could rise quite fast after repairing the 1G-GE... and personally, I dont feel like having a mechanic come out to tell me what I already know. Chances are the vibrations from the crank pulley being loose have stuffed something else up, and i'd rather not have to fix it.
Convincing my dad that changing the engine is a good idea is much harder. Then again, I could do the whole take engine away to get "repaired" then bring it back with a few turbo's on the side, when i've really sold the old engine and bought a new one, hoping he doesnt notice any difference... but i'd still have to get exhaust done.
I should just go ahead and do it, ignoring him.

Thats what I keep on telling myself.
He has been telling me that I shouldn't be doing work where i've got it parked, but i've already cleared it as being ok with the people concerned (just gotta make sure I dont make a mess).
I'll make a final decision tommorow I hope, waiting on a phone call concerning the 1G-GE.

Ahh tonight he's been giving me the "it's not worth spending a few thousand on that car" thing... He's got the idea that the engine will cost over $2000, even after I told him it'd be $1500 at the most... $1100 if i'm lucky!
I should really just go off and do it anyway

Oh, I never usually listen to him... but then I do something stupid and end up finding out he's right. Then again, his experience with cars is limited to paying a mechanic to change the oil.
Time to go buy me a 1G-GTE...
