Hey all, I've got a 1989 GZ20 Soarer and I'm in the process of converting to manual, just picked up a GA70 5spd conversion kit, but it has a 6 bolt flywheel and a 225mm clutch plate, now I'm just wondering if mine being a late 89 (has the later model mounts and gen 3 engine) if its going to be an 8 bolt crank or still 6 bolt... can anyone confirm what year toyota changed the design, or if they never changed it, what the 8 bolt cranks came in... This is all the info I need then I can get stuck in bolting bits n bobs in and saving for my nice new 2600lb 6 puck ceramic clutch
Cheers

I got a gen 1 and a gen 3 sitting on the shelf, but to my memory, which i have not been trusting of lately, i recall that both flywheels have six bolts. I can check this tomorow for you and let you know.

Thanks people, everyone seems to be confirming its a 6 bolter (even rang my mate at Toyota who has my chassis/model codes and he bought up my torque converter which shows 6 bolts) so hopefully the conversion will go ahead without a hitch..
FYI I'm pricing up two clutches... a company in NZ called Autoclutch can sell me a complete kit with a brand new 6 puck ceramic sprung centre 225mm friction plate and rebuild my pressure plate to 50% greater clamping pressure for around $800 (trade price) and I'm still waiting for a price back on an exedy race clutch which is basically the same friction plate but possibly a higher clamping pressure plate and should hopefully be around the same price...
