full license test, the one after green P's

has anyone here done the new test to go from green p's to full license? ive had my greens for long enough for me to be able to do it, and i only have one point left so i could do with some more, but it cost 30-something dollars to do the test and i cant really afford it if i fail.
i checked the rta website to se what info it has and it says you need to buy the book which is $30 and you cannot pass without it. so i was wondering has anyone done it? and do you think i can wing-it without the book?
thanks!

the book is bullshit, you dont need it, If you really want it you can download it from the site anyway.
The test isn't too difficult, just common sense.

In NSW, after 12 months on your red Ps, you can take a computer test on hazard perception. If you pass this (and give the RTA more of your hard-earned cash), you get "upgraded" to a P2 or "green" P licence.
This increases you max speed limit to 100 from 90, demerit points from 4 to 7. Also the P plates are green. You have to be on your green Ps for 24 months before you can get a full licence.

Bullshit?
The test to get of your green p's is fukin ridiculous, ive been twice know and failed hard on both cases.
So of the shit they ask is fukin retarded.
I propose this?
IF I HAVE TO DO IT, EVERYBODY SHOULD DO IT.

i was under the impression, and have been told, that the Hazard Percepetion Test to get you full license after your green p's is just another easy computer test that doesnt do jackshit to help you're awareness on the road etc. etc.
i thought it would have been easy.
what kind of questions do they ask you FKN16V ??

from my understanding its a combination of the L's test and the green P's test. the green P's test was VERY easy, i found the L's test a little harder without having read the book. i think in the full license test they include questions in relation to the ADR's.

how hard can it be? as midnight suggested it should just be common sense roadrules
are you allowed to keep a copy of the test? i'd be nice to see just what sort of questions they ask.
dont have to worry about any of that shit in qld...p's for 3yrs with 4 points (which renew 1yr after you loose them)then onto opens with 12 points for 5 yrs but points no longer renew. Come to think of it, its not a bad deal being on p's in qld

Just spastic shit like there will be a section that you touch the screen when you think you should slow down whilst driving down a highway with nothing but trees, ive had this one twice and i cant see anything that would make me want to slow down. Im not the smartest bloke around and im sure as hell not an idiot.
Q: Who is at most danger of causing an accident?
A: Middle age man who has drunk 6 standard beers in 4 hrs
B: Young women who has drunk 4 standard wines in 2 hrs
C: Shift worker on his way home at 7am
D: Worker on their too work at 7am
Its not (b) and its not (c) which would be the most logical answers.
I seriously think after reading some of the things in War & track stories that all motorists need to take the test at least once every 2 yrs, because theres always new and changing rules.
1/2 of the people with driving licenses would loose them, because they will fail.

Yeah i have been for the green Ps test once and failed too, fucking had to pay $32 for the pleasure.
The questions basicly invlove a video chip where you have to touch the screen when you think you should slow down.
I found in some causes the scenarios were ambigous and also sicne you were spending heaps of time looking for cheap and nasty hazards the obvious slipped me by, like slowing down for bends. Meh i'll study the book and do it again in a little while, still got 6 months till my licence expires.

that slow down on the screen thign is full of trick questions. Some of them you don't have to touch the screen at all.
For taht section to get my p's you needed to get like 72 % or something, lucky me i got exactly the required amount
goto vicroads, u can d/l a demo thingy taht u can run on ur pc, has 4 examplse in it i think

For the greens test , there is only 2 simple rules to passing.
Number one for the " Hit the screen when you should slow down " question.
- As soon as anything enters your view , ie unless you have a 5km clear view in front ( which is never ) hit the screen. According to the RTA , you can never be driving too slow.
Number two for the " Hit the screen to turn right " question
- Don't hit the screen , ever , the saftest right hand turn is one you don't make
My personal experience with the test was a first go pass , however I did find the test question amusing. You travel down a 40 street with cars on both sides , suddenly a woman pops out and you run her over. So I redid the question and before the woman popped out I hit the screen , the program told me my reaction could be better, but the woman handt even walked on screen yet. So I gave it a third try , as soon as the video played I hit the screen immediatly! The program then says that my reaction was good but could be better. Go figure.

i got my full licence after going the computer test. it wasn't all that hard, it was rather easy, just practice with the sample question on the rta website a few times.
as for the green p's test, that was a bitch, i did it when it was still cheap, like $11.00 a pop for the test, i failed that 6 times and passed it on the 7th. i read the book, the book is bullshit, the computer screen resolution was crap and this system in nsw is just crap........

Now i hate going to the RTA after the amount of stuff they have done to get me to pay them more money.
Failed my reds a number of times, for poor things such doing 52 downhill in a 4wd under brakes in a 50 zome. Supposedly not looking around correctly before doing a reverse parallel park and told that there may have been a small child behind me even though it was a passable park, wtf?? Finally passed when driving my mums saab which we bought a few days before i had my test. The lady who was testing me had obviously never been in a saab before and was asking me stuff like "oh does this car have a cd player?" in the middle of the test.
Then going onto greens failed first time dismally, then a week later get told by the lady that it was the best result she had seen. how can one persons hazard perception change that much in one week.
I am not looking forward to giving the RTA anymore of my money on lisencing, especially when they have already got at least $2-300 off me so far.

Forgot to mention that the RTA also ripped me off when i bought my previous car. Bought it off the original owner, now pensioner, went to change the rego to my name and was told that since pensioners don't pay for rego that i had to pay the balance of the rego aswell the standard fees of the transfer..
sorry for getting off topic but the RTA is in my eyes a bit of a joke now, ever since they have made people pay for doing thier L's tests.

Down here in Mexico you have to pay to get your Ls, but the test is easy as shit, and the Ps test is just as easy.
Victoria has camera revenue rasing, NSW has Ps test revenue rasing.

In WA its even easier..
Turn 16, go to licensing centre, sit your 30 question test, pass and you get a thing saying you can drive around but not on freeway, this is called PHASE 1.
Once your 16 1/2 months, you can go for PHASE 2, you go with a drive, and take them for a drive, they mark you off, if you pass you get a LOG BOOK, you do either 25 hours or 48 hours, cause recently i thought it was changed but i dont know now.. i think its still 25 hours.
Then you wait till your 17, go do a hazard test, and you get your P plates, basically full drivers license, but its Porbational.
Once your 19, take them off.
Simple.

i found the green p's test easy. like DiZ says, when it asks you to press it when you need to slow down, press it as soon as you see something ie corner, cardoor open etc. and when you gotta press it when its safe to turn, dont press it
i failed my first red P's driving test cause my car wouldnt start. damn corolla
