Hey Guys (and Gals)

The torque converter in my 7MGE powered MX83 1990 Cressida has gone and shot itself and I was wondering if it'd be worth my while getting a manual conversion as opposed to semi reconditioning my auto.

Cheers,

John.

Manual conversion will cost u $1000+ ... u can prob get another auto for $300 out of an import and it will be as good as new.

If your really set on a manual... go the 1jz with box all in one hit. Try to limit how much u spend on your 7m Smile
Hope this helps.. if u need to know details on getting a gearbox for around 300.. let me know.. i'll help u out.

Would a manual gearbox from jza 70 be better then a 1j gearbox, i would imagine the manual from a jza70 be easier and heaps cheaper.

Most wreckers want around $1700 for a manual 1J gearbox (r154?) if you can find one. They seem to mostly come in front cuts so its quite likely you would have to buy a cut to get the gear box and sell the rest.
Of course it would be easier and cheaper if you need a 7M box though.

A W58 from a non-turbo MA70 Supra (7M) should cost no more than $500. The 1JZ box (R154) will cost 3-4 times that, but if you're not doing a 1JZ conversion you don't need it.
