icon5.gif  1jz, 2jz, 7m head stud dimensions?????? Thu, 15 April 2004 05:34 Go to next message
Hi guys, I'm currently screwing my turbocharged 4.5L 1FZ-FE back together following some significant head work, and have been thinking that a set of head studs might be a good idea prior to stuffing the full 18-20 psi through it. Of course there are none specifically available for this motor, but I'm wondering if a set of either 1J, 2J or 7M studs might fit.

If anyone possesses these items and it's convenient, I'd appreciate the measurements (ie thread and length) of the studs. The 1F runs 14 studs, the same as the other 3 motors O believe.

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Sean

I don't have studs but I do have some head bolts which may be of help. Will dig them up later tonight and post.

Stenno might have some JZ studs.

I just remembered I'd measured 1 up a while ago and still had the picture.

F**K. They are the right length (perfect even) but too big (ie 12mm, not 10mm as required)

I'll just stick with the stock ones to start with, and if it does start blowing gaskets once 20 psi is jammed in there I can easily pull the head off and re-drill and tap the block and head to suit the new studs.

Cheers friend

(just modded the cam wheel to retard the cam timing by 3 degrees as well-should push peak torque up in the rev range by around 1000 rpm-instant 20%+ more horsepower.........and I've got a 4 day weekend coming up so she'll be running by monday...............)
