hey guys, i was just wondering roughly how much it would cost to transplant a 4a-ge engine into my 86. what parts are needed and how much will it all cost.thanx

quite a common question to ask..

check the in the tech sectino for articles.

Drive in drive out conversions in melbourne range from $3k to $7k. (bluetop).

sorry i dont have 10k to buy a 4age trueno coupe! Razz 3-7k man thats way to much for a 20yr old engine.

its not the engine you are paying 3-7k for, it is the labour and sourcing things like fuel pumps and ecu's etc! dont talk about 4a-ge's like they r crap, believe it or not 4a-ge's came in other newer cars, so not all of them are "20 yrs old" it is a proven engine, and if you are serious then rebuild it! or that might be a bit pricey! Laughing, simple rule ( there are exceptions ) u get what u pay for! good luck Very Happy

You will need..

Engine
Computer
Wiring loom
EFI fuel tank (Or external fuel pump)
New Clutch.

if u decide to do what i did, you'd spend:
bluetop 4age - $700
flywheel - $70
clutch kit - $350
extractors - $300
cat - $300
piping - $260
muffler - $400
intake (pod + piping) - $100
surge tank - $150
bosch pump - $400
facet pump - $150
oils (engine/gearbox) - $80
spark plugs - $80
spigot bearing - $10
clamps - $20
hoses and adaptors - $50
ke30 accelerator cable - $30

cost of wiring, done by my mechanic - $300

a grand total of $3750 Rolling Eyes

alternatively you could message _T_ on these forums and buy one installed for $2600.

engine conversions aren't cheap. save yourself the trouble and buy my car Very Happy

Dont you need the loom for the 4age or can the old stuff be used?

Also more $$ to have the aircon regassed after.
