MA61 Clutch Slave different to SA63? Fri, 16 April 2004 00:47 Go to next message
Hey guys, do toyota have different clutch slaves for different models (and even the same models?).

My clutch fork will not work with the SA63 slave (MA61 Fork and bellhousing)
http://everest.fit.qut.edu.au/~n4150414/Dsc00180.jpg

I'm guessing that there will be an MA61 slave that will solve my problems (btw why the hell would toyota make them different!)? I'll goto repco this arvo and see if there is different part numbers...

Cheers
Wilbo

I have had 2 different slave cylinders and they are the same.

Typically it is the actual clutch fork that is different. You may have to change that (a shit of a job), or given that everything is already installed, make up a spacer for the slave cyl to sit out further from the bellhousing.

This may cause other issues with pedal travel (need to maybe go up a size in the Clutch M/Cyl to get the travel req'd.

So in short, the clutch slave cyl's that I have always seen are the same IME.

Cheers

Ditto that. As discussed last night, I have seen different clutch forks but never different slave cylinders. This is comparing the RA60, RA65, MA61 and JZA80 setups; all slave cylinders are identical.

How the fuck can that work Confused , this is the setup (fork, bellhousing, throwout bearing, clutch and pressure plate, in short EVERYTHING) that came out of blakes (aka v8_ma61) MA61.....

I'll have to go and check his slave cyl out when he gets back...

Norbs, the slaves that come on the RA65 were different weren't they (because they sit on the drivers side of the bellhousing they were mirrored?)

Cheers

Nope stock MA61 5M-E -> W58 Bellhousing, Fork, Clutch, Pressure Plate, Throwout Bearing (the only thing I don't have is the slave cyl!)

Are you sure you put the clutch fork on correctly, ie it's properly attached to the throwout bearing? I know it sounds dumb, but I put a clutch plate in backwards once so anything's possible. Laughing

wilbo clipped the fork onto the thro-out bearing - they only fit one way i think and thus should position the fork arm correctly.

am pretty sure it was seated on the pivot ball - i think you can lift back the boot to check that one at least

i'm sure wilbo doesn't feel like re-installing that gearbox (me neither) Mad Confused

unless we got a big ford clutch arm from Blake by mistake?

No no, didn't even touch the fork or gearbox (wasn't seating the slave in the pivot hole correctly)

Umm yeah I'll phone you in 2 secs!
