Driving Books (to get your L's) Fri, 16 April 2004 00:53 Go to next message
Do these cost anything nowadays ? Can I pick up a copy for a friend ?

Can I pick up L and P plates for a friend as well ? i.e. do I need to show a license to get these plates ?

you can get plates free,
but the fuckers charge for the books now. the manual thing is $25. or you could just download it free.

I thought the books and the L plates were free.

I *think* that you have to pay for the P plates these days. Not sure though, it's been 12 years since I went for my licence... hehe

some books are free, but not the ones you need to work through getting your license, they used to be (i got them free, but have since 'risen in price')
at my local rta, they have plates on a stand, you just wander up and take some.

oh sorry, my mistake:
its actually $26

"Handbooks (including Road Users' Handbook, Heavy Vehicle Drivers' Handbook, Motorcycle Riders' Handbook, Hazard Perception Handbook, Driver Qualification Handbook and Road Users' Handbook in 10 community languages.) $26"

The bastards put everything up in price, the L's test used to be free, then when up to $30 or so.

I think i would kill the person who gave me that for my birthday present. Smile Smile

Tell her the test is so easy that if she has even a little common sense she can pass it. Very Happy I never read the book but passed with 100%. Mind you that was like 5 or 6 years ago now, so things could have changed.
