Car Alarm Remote replacement? Fri, 16 April 2004 04:54 Go to next message
Hi, i got a 91 Soarer GT-L almost 2 weeks now and the remote for the car alarm started not working now and i wonder if u can get a replacement for the remote???

I've bought the car off a private sale and the guy told me what the buttoms on the remote do.

1, alarm on

2. alarm off

3. boot buttom broken, and the 3rd button with also has
the function of car feed back. As in when the car is broken into, the car calls the remote and the remote well indicate what is happening to the car.

4. Auto Eng start (click once, letgo 1 sec later, click again)

Brand of remote is UniStar auto security.

I just wonder will i be able to get a replacement from else where??

Thanks!!

ummm ... good luck finding parts & manual - this is was the most understandable thing i could find with Google:
<http://www.carsalestoyou.com/business/NantongUnist arElectro-mechanicalIndustriesCo.htm>

you should have at least one spare alarm remote - what if you lsot your keys?

might be easier to get an auto elecrician to look at it and install different system?

I only got 1x alarm remote and 1x original Soarer car key:(...the previous owner told me that he only got 1 remote and key for the car and to get a spare car key, i'll have to go to ToyoTa dealer and ask them to order a key as the key got a chip inside + the keyless button on the key too....it will cost around $400!!!...

guess i'll have to replacement the whole alarm with a new one later on...

if i cant get a replcament remote:(...

Hmm, I'm in the same situation as you dude, except I got a Celica. Previous owner only had 1 master key and one worn out alarm controller...

Toyota quoted $380 for a replacement master key... JB Hifi said around ~$150 for a replacement alarm controller as they are hard to find for this model. I might just go for a whole new alarm system for ~$500 as the one I have got is not very good.
